Accounting – Billing – Payroll Clerk

This wonderful, stable and growing boutique law firm located near Farragut North/West or McPherson Square Metros in DC seeks a Payroll-Billing-Accounting Clerk that will be responsible for assisting the accounting department with a variety of tasks such as filing, processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, reporting and accounts receivable. There will be additional administrative and accounting related tasks as needed.
You will support the Billing Supervisor and assist with editing, formatting, production and mailing of client bills; maintain billing files; generate reports and handle client projects. Payroll: Coordinate and ensure the accuracy of all benefits and other deductions with Human Resources; coordinate SmartBenefits program with payroll, maintain payroll benefits matrix; accurately enter and maintain demographic and salary data in payroll software; enter payroll hours on a semi-monthly basis; reconcile input to payroll before and after transmitting; prepare check request for payroll withholdings (such as PAC); process payroll, on time and accurately, in compliance with state and federal regulations; process terminations and other manual check requests and prepare annual census reports and other payroll reports as needed. Accounts Receivable and payables: process bank deposits daily; apply bank deposits in OMEGA daily, apply client payments daily; generate reports and serve as back-up and perform AP activities as needed. Handle preparing correspondences; W-9s and conflicts checks. Handle collections, as directed by the Accounting Manager.
You must a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field required; experience working in law firm billing and accounting is a huge plus; knowledge of basic accounting concepts and understanding of general and subsidiary ledgers concepts.
You must have at least 1-year of accounting that includes at least 75% of the above experience.
You must be comfortable with using the computer and have functional knowledge of the internet and browsers
You will work core hours of 9-5:30 M-F, non-exempt position and hours worked up to 40 are paid straight time and hours in excess of 40 per week are paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate. $40,000 – $50,000.
