This full service international commercial construction firm specializing in government projects seeks an experienced construction manager to take over a project currently underway in Luray, VA.
You must have education, professional qualifications, or the equivalent experience related to construction, architecture, engineering, and the ability to read and decipher blueprints.
3+ years of experience with a degree or certifications or 8+ years of experience with no education.
A solid background of construction practices, including applicable building codes, applicable safety regulations, cost breakdown estimating, negotiating, and technical writing. You must be computer literate and open and manipulate Oracle Primavera Project and Microsoft (MS) Project, Word, Excel, and SharePoint files or other related software.
Knowledge of and experience with construction practices directly related to water well pipelines.
Certifications related to the construction practices and inspection of heavy construction materials, including pipeline and water utility services.
Education leading to or equivalent to a Construction Management Degree or Engineering Degree.
Prior experience working with Federal Government Project Managers/CORs on processing change requests, requests for information, submittals, and field observation reports are highly desired.
Prior experience with government agencies’ resource protection measures to avoid and minimize construction-related adverse impacts to natural and cultural resources.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour construction safety training is highly desired but not required.
The construction manager shall provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction. Coordinate with the client, construction contractors, and others as needed.
Draft project-related correspondence for client review and issuance. Document controversial issues encountered/problems experienced by or with construction contractors. Participate in conference calls with CO and other parties as necessary. Provide clients with the information needed to resolve disputes with construction contractors. Provide to CO a report of findings and recommendations upon completion of all reviews listed below.

Deliverables: Reports, reviews, evaluations, design work, etc., shall be delivered to CO within one week unless otherwise noted by CO. Attend and facilitate a variety of meetings including, but not limited to, weekly progress meetings at the project site. Chair meetings between client and construction contractors except for pre-construction conference, with the CO. Prepare written meeting minutes, will be chaired. Attend Contractor led weekly and monthly safety meetings. Review, comment, and process construction contractor’s Division 01 Specifications and technical and informational submittals. Monitor construction contractor’s compliance with submittals. Review construction contractor’s baseline and progress schedules. Prepare and submit DSC Baseline Schedule Review Checklist, Schedule Update Worksheet, and Schedule Update Log.
