Legal Assistant – Secretary
Washington, DC – Union Station Metro Stop
A 5-day-a-week onsite in a beautiful, social, and cohesive office of 12.
Hours are 9-6 – M-F with occasional paid overtime.
This role is paying up to $105,000k DOE.
This is a rare job supporting ONE high profile partner. Other attorneys may be assigned later. This partner will join the firm in January 2024 and is said to be very nice, respectful, and busy.
This stable and growing national litigation and regulatory firm with 20 offices nationwide seeks an experienced Legal Assistant to work in the Washington D.C. office.

Duties:
Your primary tasks will be opening files, entering time, and billing and travel arrangements. The partner would like their assistant to be the keeper and coordinator of their calendar on a daily basis, and to schedule meetings. Sometimes input edits to or proofread documents. Their practice is rarely directly involved in litigation, and very, very rarely, if ever, does any e-filing in DC or Maryland. However, you will file administrative documents with the Department of Transportation and other agencies like the FAA and TSA. The firm will train someone to do it. If you have prior experience filing submissions with administrative agencies and checking their dockets would be a plus. Another plus would be finding and pulling draft legislation being worked on in Congress. There may be a little billable work involved relating to reviewing filings in administrative dockets and even preparing some filings if you are interested. Also, depending on their interest and aptitude, they could become involved in reviewing aviation regulatory developments and preparing summaries for clients. Ideally, you will take on some practice management duties, such as tracking and keeping us on track for upcoming conferences and business development events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, but not required.
- 5+ years of legal secretary/assistant experience, litigation or regulatory is a plus.
- Proficient in state and federal e-filing.
- Ability to type 60 wpm, excellent spelling, punctuation, and grammar required, and knowledge of legal terminology.
- Competent in using computers and Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS.
