In this new role, you must have analyzed conflicts, not just processed them. You will review and analyze conflicts 80-90% of the time, identifying issues, alerting the ethics partners, writing memos, and establishing ethical walls. The other 10-20% will be pitching in and helping the conflicts team.
As a Senior Conflicts Analyst, you are primarily responsible for working closely with firm attorneys and the Conflicts & Business Intake department to review, analyze, and resolve potential conflicts related to new partner lateral hires and all other attorneys, paralegals, and staff new hires. You will also assist in the daily processing of conflicts requests for new clients and new matters for the US.
Responsibilities Include:
- Identify, analyze, and resolve conflicts for new lateral partner hires and other new lawyer and administrative hires under the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct in various jurisdictions.
- Through the hiring manager, communicates with lateral candidates to obtain complete and accurate client and related parties’ information to distinguish portable and non-portable business.
- Review all new hire conflict reports and communicate with the originating lawyers and the Firm’s Ethics Partners regarding the initial analysis and recommendations for conflict resolution.
- Communicates with attorneys by presenting brief, clear statements of potential conflicts issues identified in the conflicts reports.
- Document decisions on potential conflicts by recording notes on written memoranda, including required conflicts waivers and disclosures. When necessary, seek guidance from the Ethics Partner regarding the final decision.
- Supports the Business Intake Department in the online new client and new matter intake process, including processing conflicts requests and generating conflicts reports.
- Provide input on department processes.
- Ability to assess the situation and properly prioritize duties.
- Perform tasks delegated by the General Counsel or their designee regarding client engagement, conflicts of interest, and the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience will be considered.
An advanced degree or a JD is a plus but not required.
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Conflicts Specialist, Conflicts Analyst, Senior Conflicts Analyst, or litigation Paralegal with solid conflicts experience.
Previous experience analyzing and clearing conflicts is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, conflicts searching software (Legal Key), and Internet Research Tools.
Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills. Detail-oriented problem-solver with sound judgment. |
