Legal Assistant – Practice Assistant

Washington, DC – Union Station Metro Stop

A 5-day-a-week onsite in a beautiful, social, and cohesive office of 13.

Hours are 9-6, M – F, with occasional paid overtime.

This role is paying up to $105,000 DOE.

You will support one high-profile partner and 1 associate in their busy aviation practice. They are very friendly, respectful, and busy.

You will get to attend tradeshows and other client-facing events

This stable, growing, and highly ranked national law firm with a recognized team that provides cutting edge advice to blue chip international clients seeks an experienced Legal Assistant – Practice Assistant to work in its Washington D.C. office.

Responsibilities include:

  • Client Development: Facilitate practice group business goals by regularly attending industry events and engaging with key clientele, industry representatives, and government officials.  Track client activities, including conferences, client visits, and other relevant business events.
  • Paralegal Duties: Track, research, and provide internal and client summary reports of the activities and requirements of relevant regulatory bodies.  Draft and file submissions to administrative agencies under attorney review and approval.  This role involves minimal litigation, but the PA may occasionally be asked to handle document management.
  • Administrative Management and Oversight: Facilitate team meetings. Address client inquiries and administrative matters, including budgeting, accrual forecasting, e-billing, and timekeeper approvals. Monitor invoices and payments and outside counsel guideline compliance. Handle file openings and closings and enter time.
  • Maintain, update, and manage the team’s calendar and attorney schedules; track deadlines; coordinate travel and events; and submit expense reports.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not required.
  • A plus is 5+ years of executive assistant, legal secretary/assistant experience, litigation, aviation, or regulatory highly desired.
  • Proficient in state and federal e-filing.
  • Ability to type 60 wpm, excellent spelling, punctuation, and grammar required, and knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Competent in using computers and Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS.
