Paralegal – Commercial Litigation

Location: Raleigh, NC

This position is 5 days a week in the office with work hours of 9 am – 5:30 pm (37.5-hour work week)

This large, well-established, growing, and award-winning national law firm seeks a commercial litigation paralegal to join its amazing team.

You will support the attorneys with litigation involving financial institutions, corporate and business litigation in federal and state court, North Carolina Business Court, arbitration, and class actions. Experience with employment law matters in federal court is highly preferred.

You will maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars; electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system under the supervision of an attorney; perform online PACER research; prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions.  Other responsibilities will allow you to prepare deposition notices (organize, maintain, and prepare deposition materials, exhibits, and summaries); track and manage discovery, including document productions; participate in case strategy meetings; and handle routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, and clients.

Qualifications:

• You will have a minimum of 2-3 years of commercial litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle
• 2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education.
• Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet and Westlaw.
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
