The position is remote for now, and when safe and the sire reopens, will be onsite in Windsor Mills, MD, then you will have to go onsite 3-4 days a week.
This position will not be doing any technical work, but it will require the ability to understand technical discussions.
As the Senior Project Manager will work as a change agent and servant-leader for the Security Engineering team within the ISPG (Information Security and Privacy Group) Division of CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid) to advance the understanding, adoption, and maturation of agile principles and practices across the team as well as across the organization. You will report to the Team Lead of the Security Engineering team to provide project support and oversight. This is a highly visible position that will result in daily communication with CMS Directors, Federal Task leads, and other project stakeholders. The individual will be responsible for carrying out all the project related work and understanding the customer’s unique business requirements, and drive the development and deployment of customized solutions to meet their needs.
You will serve as the Project Manager for the Security Engineering group within the CMS ISPG organization. Oversee the distribution of work for 12 Engineers and ensure they are making progress against the program increment commitments. Must be able to manage multiple tasks at once, including managing a product backlog of over 250 tasks and roughly 25 EPICs. Manage a matrixed team, including scope, schedule, risks/issues, status reporting, and customer communications to implement and deliver projects on time. Manage and drive PMO processes to meet the business and project management needs of the program. Lead and drive program processes to meet the objectives of the CMS organization. Support the PMO team with improvements, metrics, quality assurance, and general analysis/reports to meet the Program/Contract’s objectives. Ability to create, document, and present data metrics weekly/monthly on the status of the projects you are supporting. Provide product owner training, direction, and support on Scrum processes. Facilitate daily standups, sprint planning, execution of sprints, and retrospective meetings. Must be able to monitor and evaluate project timelines and activity and report on progress to Senior Management. Must understand when to communicate issues, problems, or additional information to project directors or other project stakeholders and recommend solutions. Collects and report on team metrics and determine when new metrics are needed and develop improvements in metrics. Coaches team on agile and scrum principles with the goal of continuous improvement.
Required Skills:
- 8-10 years as a Senior Project Manager with broad experience in the development & management of Systems and infrastructure
- Candidate must have BA/BS or equivalent 10 years of related experience.
- Must have experience developing project schedules to meet project requirements and determining resource requirements.
- You must possess advanced process, organization, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience in Agile, Scrum, Kanban, SDLC, JAD, CMMI, Waterfall, and Test scripting Technical Project Management experience
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance that the firm will get for you.
Preferred Skills:
- AWS Cloud certification and experience a plus
- Strong technical aptitude. This position will not be doing any technical work, but it will require the ability to understand technical discussions.
