Will train Immigration Assistant

Location: San Francisco, CA, in the Financial District

A hybrid model of 3/2 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the office) and hours of 9-5:30 with paid overtime

The firm seeks a bright, well-organized beginner who is passionate about learning immigration from the best attorneys in the practice area.  You will provide legal and administrative support to the Immigration practice group.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Assist in various aspects of business and global immigration practice, including electronic filings, searches, database management, and working with 2 partners and 3 paralegals who will teach you everything you need to know.
  • Perform tasks related to case preparation and filing of petitions with government agencies, including document gathering, document review, and case filing
  • Draft, revise, and format legal documents, correspondence, memoranda, and e-mail
  • Perform administrative tasks such as preparing expense reports, check requests, and time entries, as requested
  • Open new files, initiate business intake/conflict of interest check process, and maintain client and general files
  • Maintain attorneys’ calendars and schedule appointments
  • Coordinate client meetings
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements
  • Processing of daily government mail
  • Preparing shipping labels and requests for filing fees
  • Utilize and update the in-house database
  • Perform general file upkeep. This will include regularly saving documents in the document management system.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent experience from a two-year college or technical school
  • Minimum of 2 years of legal experience, preferably in a law firm
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to multitask
  • Superior knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office a must (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and is a team player
  • Ability to work overtime when needed, and is paid time and a half after 40 hours
